2nd Anniversary Classic

From March 2 through April 6, we hosted our 2nd Anniversary Classic. For this event, we had 18 participants, making it the largest of our Monday events to date. Additionally, there were often another 10-12 people playing casual chess, which led to a pretty vibrant environment.

Franco Alejandrino and Joshua Topper tied for first place with a score of 4/5 and went home with $300 each

The $100 U1600 prize went to Daniel Rohn with a score of 3.5/5

The $100 U1400 prize went to Mark Anthony Dela Rosa Paquit with a score of 3/5

And the biggest upset prize of $50 went to Aman Shaik with an impressive 497 point upset.

Boards 1 & 2 for rounds 1-4 were live broadcast and can be viewed: https://lichess.org/study/9bMTcMYM

On March 30, which was the originally scheduled Round 5, we finished the evening with door prizes.

Len Sorko took the first prize of 1 year US Chess membership and an OMCC Polo Shirt

Ben Kinard took the second prize of the OMCC Polo Shirt

Ryan Bentley took the third prize of the OMCC Thermos

This is our premier Monday night event of the year, and we are already looking forward to the 3rd Anniversary Classic, which will be scheduled for March 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29 of 2027. Mark your calendars!
